A Walk Down Memory Lane

We’ve been long overdue on a protocol update here. Many exciting things have been happening in the background and we’re excited to finally shed some light on Katana’s recent accomplishments.

First, and most importantly, we are thrilled to announce that Katana will officially be launching to all Samurai on Mainnet!

Before we dive into that, here’s a quick refresher on what we’ve accomplished together in the last month:

  • Launched a public Devnet
  • Collected and executed upon community-driven requests including adding mobile support, improving user flows, and polishing the UI/UX
  • Consistently increased Devnet deposit limits and onboarded more Samurai
  • Released an NFT-gated Alpha Mainnet
  • Grew the Samurai community to over 25k Twitter followers and 13k Discord members

All that brings us to the present — an exciting and pivotal moment in Katana’s roadmap.

Alpha Mainnet: Round 1

The Alpha Mainnet’s first round commenced on Friday evening when we launched an automated ETH Covered Call vault. The vault was set to a three-day expiry with the goal of simply testing the waters on Mainnet.

To our delight, the round was a tremendous success. The vault filled just minutes after launching — capped modestly for safety — and generated an impressive 33.67% APY on its ETH over its three-day lifespan!

For vault access, users were required to hold the Katana Early Access Pass NFT of which only 100 were initially distributed via a lottery.

New Vaults + Increased Limits

Given the stellar round 1 performance, we’re excited to introduce our flagship SOL Covered Call vault and significantly expand the vault caps on the ETH Covered Call vault.

The deposit limits on the SOL and ETH vaults will be each increased to $5 million dollars respectively, allowing many more Samurai to access the products while still controlling for protocol safety and operational enhancements in the process.

Going forward, we’ll be rapidly expanding our suite of supported assets and strategies in response to community feedback and market demand.

Early Access NFTs

Inspired by our community feedback and to align with our desired ethos, we will be modifying the role of the Katana Early Access NFTs from gating Mainnet access to rewarding early depositors.

The initial purpose of NFT-gated access was to honor loyal, high-value-add members of the Samurai community by providing them with early access to Katana’s vaults.

To the same end, we’ll now be rewarding all early depositors with guaranteed Early Access NFTs with the additional benefit of opening up Mainnet access to all Samurai. Of course, all NFTs already rewarded and due for active giveaways will remain untouched, but the lottery will no longer continue.

We’re grateful to the community for the feedback on this front and believe this will better align the NFT mechanism with Katana’s values of inclusivity and community-driven development.

Conclusion

After only two months since its inception, Katana is officially launching on Mainnet. We couldn’t be more excited for the road ahead and to be building alongside the honorable Samurai community.

Deposits are now open for the first sizable round of SOL + ETH Covered Call vaults and NFTs will be rewarded to all depositors in this round.
